Skye is an artist that defies genre boundaries. Her new single, Always Come Back, is the first step in a journey towards fully embracing that unique sound. Heavy guitars, melodic hooks, and genre bending phrasing are a hallmark of her ever evolving style.
Skye started cutting her teeth performing on NYC’s legendary Bitter End stage at age 16. Her teens found her fronting rock bands across New York and Long Island. Influenced heavily by the strong female voices that she grew up on (Bonnie Raitt, Alanis Morisette, Sheryl Crowe) she often drew comparison to Alanis when she sang. By the time she graduated from Wesleyan University, Skye had played all over the United States and as far away as Paris.
In 2012 Skye made the move to Nashville without knowing a soul. She hit the ground running, honing her songwriting skills in a culture where taking more that 3 hours to write a song is considered slow. During her time in Nashville, she has been featured on prestigious BMI songwriting festivals such as Key West, Island Hopper, the BMI Buzz & Acoustic Lounge showcases, and BMI’s YouTube Showcase. She has written songs for artists across all genres ranging from Texas Country to Pop to Commercial Country to Rock. She has released two solo albums, gone out to country radio with a charting single, and toured extensively in venues ranging from hole in the wall bars to showcases stages, NASCAR races to large festivals and even arenas.
2018 found Skye ready to embrace her true self as an artist and let go of all expectations of where her music belonged. Her unique voice and sound didn’t ever truly feel free to fly in Country Music. She felt a strong pull back to the sound of heavy guitars and swaying creativity of pop phrasing and followed that call during a year long journey of writing and self exploration. This journey culminated in the release of Skye's first rock single, Always Come Back, in August 2019. Look out for more from this unique artist and songwriter as she continues to carve out her own path.
